Human gives dying dog one last cross-country road trip

When Poh, a mixed-breed dog living in New York City, received a terminal diagnosis from his veterinarian earlier this year, his owners set out to give their beloved pet a memorable final few weeks.

Three months later, Poh and his owner Thomas Neil Rodriguez have completed a seven-week long cross country road trip, all documented on the dog's Instagram: @PohTheDogsBigAdventure.

Rodriguez adopted Poh from an animal shelter in 1999, ABC News reports. Now the 15-year-old pup is suffering from large inoperable tumors in his abdomen and veterinarians are unsure how long he has to live.

So Rodriguez, his fiancee and Poh piled into their car and set out for a road trip across country to the Pacific ocean, stopping in 35 cities and traveling 12,000 miles.

Hi everyone, my name is #pohthedog. I look like a pup but I'm 15 years old, 105 in dog years, and although I am young at heart and my mind is willing, my body is going through the natural process of old age. My parents found out that I have a couple of very large tumors growing in my abdomen which are inoperable. So my dad @djneilarmstrong decided to give me a bucket list trip across the good old US of A... travelling from #nyc all the way to the west coast, from sea to shining sea. I always wanted to take a dip in the Pacific Ocean, so dad and @goumada are going to bring me all the way, escaping this cold weather so I can get my paws wet and get a nice tan. We are going to go South to North Carolina, Texas, Arizona... All the way up the west coast to Seattle and back. The trio have since returned to New York, and though Rodriguez expressed concerns that Poh might not make it longer than two weeks into their trip, the pup is still alive and happy three months later.
