Two people were killed and seven were arrested during a police raid in the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis early Wednesday, which targeted the masterminds behind the Paris attacks.

A 7-year-old police dog was also killed, according to police -- a Belgian Shepherd named Diesel.

"Assault and explosives search dogs are indispensable in the missions of the operators of the raid," France's national tweeted, along with a photo of a police dog. The accout later tweeted that the dog “was killed by terrorists" during the raid.

The hashtag #JeSuisChien began trending in France to pay tribute to the pup.
