As much as I'd like to comment on the irony or appropriate nature that someone from a fake news organization go to work for fake political organization, I have to admit that MoveOn seems to really be getting their act together in terms of tech-savvy, and launching apps that are of a genuinely non-partisan nature.  I still disagree with 99% of their politics, but a number of the widgets and applications they have in development and in the recently deployed category seem quite interesting.

Take for instance, the VotePoke, the project that Koechley left the Onion to work on, is a "progressive voter file data profile," which appears to mean that it allows users to look up their voter registration online.  Like most of the Web 2.0 offerings of MoveOn, it doesn't really have a political bent to it - just a handy tool that allows folks to make sure their buddies are registered to vote.

Additionally, MoveOn made a Facebook app called Youth Primary on Facebook specifically for the League of Young Voters.  The app makes it so Facebook members can vote on their favorite candidates, declare pet issues, and of course bring in their friends to vote.  The widget then will aggregate votes and display them by different demographics like nationally, locally, and by school.
