As you might remember, we used PollDaddy on Mashable for the Open Web Awards. After voting in a poll on our site, you were given the option to post your vote to Twitter. That’s the type of application made possible with PollDaddy’s API, since both the creation of the poll and the results are yours to play with.

Other companies already using the PollDaddy API include SproutBuilder, Seesmic, and another company under the Automattic umbrella - IntenseDebate. We mentioned IntenseDebate’s integration last week, when the comment system rolled out a development platform of its own that includes a PollDaddy plugin that lets blog readers create a poll in the comments.

Further leveraging its relationship with Automattic, there is also a PollDaddy plugin for WordPress that lets you create polls from the Dashboard.

Developers that want to try out the platform can register for an API key here.
