Looks like the widget economy is just getting started. New entrant PollPub, which launched this week, is another tool that creates polls for MySpace, blogs and websites. In short: it's not very good. The design is passable and the widgets come complete with pretty pie charts, but there's no way to copy a poll from another user. What's more, I created a poll and totally failed to locate the embed code - not a good start.

The (unfunded?) project competes with a much stronger player: San Francisco-based Vizu, which raised $1 million in first round funding earlier this year (see the widgets on their MySpace page). Israel-based dPolls has a product in this space, too - but since they're using iFrames, the widgets won't work properly on social networks. Also worth noting is Quimble, a one-man side project from creator Topper Bowers. Finally, the various MySpace-specific tools like Blogthings and Memegen are receiving a decent amount of traffic, despite being technically poor (see MySpace layouts).

I'm bearish on this entire market - these tools are ridiculously easy to clone, and even the bigger players rely on Adsense for their revenue. They're fine for a side project, but certainly not a real business.
