Pope Francis' visit to the United States later this week could end up delaying new iPhone shipments for users in Philadelphia and New York City.

Because of the security measures in place for Pope Francis' visit, UPS and FedEx have both issued temporary service advisories between Sept. 24 - 26. Apple uses FedEx and UPS to deliver its online orders in the United States.

UPS will not be performing pickups or deliveries in the following ZIP codes:

New York (Thurs. Sept. 24 and Fri. Sept. 25):

10001

10007

10017

10021

10022

10023

10029

Philadelphia (Fri. Sept. 25 and Sat. Sept. 26):

19102

19103

19104

19106

19107

19109

19123

19130

19146

19147

UPS users can track their shipments on UPS.com and sign up to be notified of changes or delays by email or text. If you are in a UPS ZIP code where delivery will be stopped, it's still possible you could pick up your package from your local UPS pickup facility.

As for FedEx, there is an Excel spreadsheet available that shows its delivery details and what ZIP codes may be impacted for service. FedEx Ground shipments appear to be more affected than FedEx Express shipments.

The Apple Store is OK

Sources close to Apple tell us that the Cupertino giant is prepared for users who want to pick up their phones in person. Apple Stores across New York and Philadelphia will have phones in stock.

Not the end of the world

Having to wait an extra day or two for an item you pre-ordered is never fun. And although it looks like Philadelphia customers will be the most impacted, it's still not clear how big of a deal this will really be.

If your iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus shipment is delayed, you can always use the extra time to read reviews about the phone. Or work on your Papal emoji skills.
