LONDON -- People make a lot of career changes, but porn star to politician is one of the rarer moves.

John Langley, a.k.a. Johnny Rockard, is representing UKIP in Bristol as a local election candidate. The 49-year-old also happens to both star in and recruit women for porn films.

The Bristol Post, which first discovered the candidate's other life, reported that Langley is the vice chair of the local branch of the party, known for its firm stance on immigration and its desire for the UK to exit the European Union.

"Now that it's come out, I wouldn't say I'm that bothered about it, because it's nothing that I'm ashamed of in any way, shape or form," he told the BBC.

"It's fairly easy for me to switch from one to the other because when I've finished my fantasy life, I'm back to the real world with my feet on the ground."

On the local UKIP website for Bristol, Langley makes no mention of his employment, instead raising issues such as bus shelters, street lighting and giving more autonomy to local government. The elections take place on May 7, the same day as the UK general election.

Langley's production company, Johnny Rockard Global Media, recruits and manages women for X-rated films, claiming they'll earn up to £150 per hour.

UKIP told the Bristol Post that it was aware of his other career when approving him as a party candidate in the local election.

"Mr. Langley is not doing anything illegal and it is a little bit unusual but at the end of the day he is a businessman," a UKIP spokesperson said. "Nothing is being hidden and there is no issue as far as we are concerned with him standing for UKIP in the election."

As well as running for local office and making porn films, Langley also makes terrible jokes on Twitter.
