In an effort to steal some of the glory away from Tumblr, Posterous is raising the bar when it comes to accessibility and convenience. Their newly released "Share on Posterous" bookmarklet (download link) is light years ahead of Tumblr's offering and lets you grab content in drag-and-drop fashion from any Web page and add it to your Posterous.
Garry Tan, Co-Founder, told us, "We auto-extract large photos and flash embeds, and can also do freeform text selection too, not just from video/photo sites themselves but also any website or blog that may have embedded the media as well. So I might be on failblog and I can extract Youtube videos or images to post to my posterous."
As the blog post suggests, the bookmarklet can do more than post to Posterous, and works with Autopost as an all-in-one bookmarklet utility for posting to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and any other blog that Posterous supports.
Good stuff. Are you using Posterous? Let us know what you think of the site and the new bookmarklet in the comments.
