Kadium, a creative interactive agency, has partnerd with Danger.com to develop a network for users of Danger.com software products. The new community is called PoweredByDanger.com.
Danger.com creates mobile software that's used in a wide variety of devices, including the T-Mobile Sidekick hand-held. In an attempt to offer a central "landing ground" for all the users of Danger products, its newly launched network brings you news, updates, products, and a social networking community where you can meet others that have Danger-powered devices. Create a blog, share media, discuss topics of any sort, an make new friends. Most of Danger's partners have some presence within the site as well, such as Photobucket, offering you a way to incorporate images from your photo-sharing account into your PoweredByDanger blogs.
I'm slightly baffled at this particular approach to creating and sustaining a social network, as it's evident that explaining the origin of the network for users seems a bit haphazard and unnecessary. It would be difficult for even an mobile service provider to push the Danger network, as it's taken a wireless provider-agnostic approach to bringing people together on its network. The purpose, however, is to create a mobile community, and if users can find a good reason to connect with each other using this network, then it stands a better chance at surviving, and promoting internal products and partner products as well.
In other mobile network news, TypePad has launched its iPhone-optimized blogging platform today.
