Line Severinsen, illustrator and mother of two, knows that there are more ups and downs to pregnancy than most people are willing to talk about — so she decided to draw them.
Severinsen's website, Kos og Kaos (which is Norwegian for "Cuddles and Chaos"), features a series of colorful comics dedicated to the harsh and hilarious realities of motherhood.

"I started this cartoon as a personal diary in 2012 when I was pregnant for the first time, with my daughter," Severinsen tells Mashable in an email. "I was feeling sick and tired all through my first trimester while all I saw online and in magazines were these picture perfect, happy, pregnant super-women."
Severinsen wanted the illustrated series to be a realistic inspiration and source of support for other women who were also experiencing pregnancy for the first time. "And judging by the huge amount of wonderful comments and messages I'm receiving from all over the world, it's really resonating with people."
Even though Severinsen is no longer pregnant (her second child was born in May), she says she intends to continue the series, as the illustrations carry a lot of memories for her. "I hope I'll be able to continue drawing the comics for a long time, it's almost like a photo album of those less-than-perfect, but still fond memories!"
