LONDON -- It's not every day that a simple customer complaint ends in a lengthy, pun-filled rap battle about fish.
When Tom Dodds sent a complaint to British food chain Pret A Manger about their crayfish flatbread, though, it was the start of something beautiful.
It all began with this tweet.
What did your chef put in the @Pret Chefs Special crayfish and avocado flatbread ? Tastes like my daughters sandpit.— Tom Dodds (@DoddsHHQ) January 6, 2016
Pret responded, and things moved in to DMs.
@DoddsHHQ Oh no, that doesn't sound right. Can you DM us more info?— Pret (@Pret) January 6, 2016
Then, something wonderful happened. Here's a screengrab of the DM conversation that followed.
"I posted a complaint about a very sandy/gross sandwich that I'd purchased," Dodds told Mashable. "They asked me to DM them, I explained the particulars of my purchase and a colleague of mine just said 'thatfishcray' (it was a crayfish wrap)... which provoked the whole thing.
"I was pleasantly surprised that they responded to the initial lyrics but we were all really impressed with their staying power."
Dodds went on to say that the exchange ended after the guys at Pret had to leave at 5 p.m. They went out with a flourish, though.
Outstanding work all round.
