LONDON -- How many times have we seen the Camerons sitting at a table in a small bar or cafe looking into each other's eyes while sipping on two glasses of local beer or coffee? That's how the current Prime Minister David Cameron and wife Samantha holiday - or at least how they photo op their yearly getaways.

Each year as summer rolls around, the prime minister of the day takes their week or so away at a friendly-with-the-electorate destination. The Blairs were fans of Tuscany and the south of France, the Majors liked Spain, while the Thatchers were firmly wedded to their Cornwall staycations, though they weren't called staycations in the 80s.

From David Lloyd George enjoying a round of golf to Harold MacMillan taking in a country estate, a prime minister's holiday is just another part of the political calendar.
