LONDON -- What's better than outranking all other individuals in the realm? Travelling to space, apparently.

Prince William was revealing some of his childhood ambitions during a trip to Japan where he met astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who spent 177 days in the International Space Station.

“When I was younger, I dreamed of being an astronaut, but I also wanted to be a policeman or a firebreather. That might have been a bit alternative," the future monarch reportedly said.

Prince William, who recently passed the necessary for him to be an air ambulance pilot, was asked if he'd consider being trained to fly into space.

“I don’t think my Eurocopter will make it that far up. It seems like an awfully long way from the ground," he responded.

The prince is on a week-long visit to China and Japan. He's is travelling without the Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, as she is in the final trimester of her pregnancy with their second child who is due in April.
