LONDON -- Why bother filling your house with the scent of frankincense and cinnamon this Christmas when there's the promise of infusing the air around you with the delicate aroma of pigs in blankets.

Pringles is trying out a range of scented candles – yes, candles – in the UK with a selection of three scents, Pigs in Blankets, Texas BBQ and Cheesy Cheese. Naturally, the candles smell the same as the Pringles flavours they’re based on.

An initial run of 500 candles has been produced to send out to buyers at large British retailers like Asda, Tesco and Waitrose.

Unless the supermarkets think there would be interest from the public, the candles may not see the light of day. Of course, it's possible this is all an elaborate marketing stunt, similar to Burger King's Flame-Grilled cologne.

“The candles are particularly pungent, so we might need to scale back on the odour before unleashing them on a mass scale next year," a Pringles spokesperson said in an emailed press release.

If you’re a fan of “meaty” and cheesy odours wafting through your home, this might just be the perfect stocking filler for you next year. This year, however, you'll have to stick to frankincense.
