First Justin Bieber. Then Carly Rae Jepsen. Now, talent manager Scooter Braun has signed viral YouTube sensation Psy, whose Korean electronica dance hit "Gangnam Style" has been watched 105 million times.
"We've come to an agreement to make some history together," Braun announced in the above video, with the goal of helping Psy become "the first Korean artist to break a big record in the United States."
Psy will be on Schoolboy Records, which is the same branch of Universal Republic Records that roped in Jepsen as her "Call Me Maybe" song garnered massive fame online.
Not only that, Braun confirmed that Psy will appear at MTV's VMAs on Thursday.
Released in July, the bizarre music video for the hypnotic jam "Gangnam Style" hasn't reached the epic proportions of "Call Me Maybe," but it has spawned entertaining reaction videos, mashups and parodies.
The Internet fame has catapulted Psy to the top of Billboard's weekly Social 50, beating out mainstream artists such as One Direction, Taylor Swift, Muse, Bieber and Rihanna. The chart ranks artists based on their popularity on social networks.
