Psychonauts 2 is coming. Double Fine Games is just going to need $3.3 million in crowdfunding in order to get there.
The game is up for funding right now on Fig, a relatively new Kickstarter-like platform that turns backers into something resembling investors. The $3.3 million target springs from Double Fine's earlier success with Kickstarter sensation Broken Age, which closed its campaign at the same number.
Psychonauts 2 is right up there with Shenmue III as one of the most sought-after sequels among longtime fans of video games. Double Fine's Xbox classic told the story of a shadowy conspiracy lurking at the corners of a children's summer camp for telepaths. Its colorful mix of tripped-out environments and nifty abilities cemented its cult status.
