Publish2: Socially Networked Journalism

Media blogger Scott Karp and entrepreneur Robert Young have announced their intention to launch Publish2, a platform for journalists.

Details on the New York-based service are a little hard to come by, but Scott describes it as a social network and 2.0 platform for journalists (and independent “news bloggers,” “citizen” journalists, student journalists, i.e. ALL journalists, BROADLY defined), which aims to put journalists at the center of news on the web. It's a news aggregator powered by journalists, he says. Plenty of references to Digg imply that more professional news filtering is on the agenda. The service will be built on Drupal.
