Today though, Qik announced a partnership that could really shake up the mobile video market. What partner could give Qik a decisive edge in online video, you ask? The answer: Nokia, the world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones. Starting soon, Qik will be pre-loaded on Nokia S60 phones and will be the exclusive mobile video app for the Symbian operating system.

Today's announcement covers multiple angles, but will occur in steps. Don't expect to pick up a Nokia phone tomorrow and have Qik already loaded just yet. The first phone to come with Qik will be the Nokia N97, which is being released today. It will have a touchscreen interface and support HD video at a 642x358 resolution.

It's hard to think of a bigger win or a better partnership for Qik than Nokia. Being pre-loaded on thousands, if not millions, of mobile phones will expose the social media tool to an abundance of new customers and new users. Qik's commanding lead in the mobile video space is about to become a lot larger.
