SYDNEY -- Prince Harry is currently on a mission to charm Australia -- otherwise known as a month-long Australian Defence Force secondment.

He's not getting any help from his dad though, who told a London crowd on Thursday night at the opening of the British Museum’s Indigenous Australia Exhibition, that his son would be happy in Australia "because of the Aussies’ fondness for rangas” -- a slang term for red hair.

“I suspect my old Harry is pretty well acclimatised by now," Charles said. “And will probably be eating Lamingtons, Vegemite sandwiches, Iced VoVos and Violet Crumble bars, and may even be threatening to buy a pair of budgie smugglers," referring to the Speedo swimsuit.

The prince is currently based in Perth as part of his military tour, where he has been delighting locals by dining around town.

On Thursday night, the prince visited a burger joint in the city's North Fremantle suburb, surprising the waitstaff, who did not recognise him at first.

Hannah Wadsworth, a waitress on duty at the time, told the ABC she was couldn't believe it was really Prince Harry. "I thought at first, 'that guy looks like Prince Harry'," she said. "It was funny seeing him here."

According to the ABC, the young royal kept his meal in the family by ordering a Queen Victoria Burger.

The prince also pleased Perthians by refusing to sit in a private area at The Stables Bar, where Nine News reported he enjoyed a Corona and some pork belly.

"I believe he left a nice little tip," owner Tim McLernon said.

No need to go back to the United Kingdom, Harry. Australia loves you for the ranga you are.
