The New York Rangers Twitter account is fighting the Washington Capitals the only way it can: with terrible grammar.

As both teams prepare for the next round of the playoffs, the Rangers took a bold stance against the Washington Capitals by banning all capital letters from their tweets during the series. Good luck coming back from this one, Washington Capitals.

The Rangers account went all lowercase on Monday night and has tweeted up a storm ever since. Though the team has not officially gave a reason for abandoning capital letters, it started after the Capitals beat the Islanders to secure a spot in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Rangers. Coincidence? We think not.

The Rangers and Capitals are notoriously a low-end rivalry in the NHL -- like the Shasta Cola vs. RC Cola of sports. Both teams have put up promising runs but have fallen short when it comes to winning a championship.

Since 2009, the teams have competed against each other in the playoffs four times, with the Rangers and Capitals both winning two of those meetings.

Ranger fans also joined in on the caps-less Twitter campaign Tuesday night, using the #nocaps hashtag.
