Many students and freshly ranked alumni have finished their semesters, and are well on their way to familiarizing themselves with summertime occupations, a good number of which can presumably be classified as internships. And as with all things that fall under the title of “job,” the worker is bound to have a few thoughts about the people and places which pay his or her salary, good or bad. That’s where Rate Internships comes in.

A simple platform upon which anyone with an email address can offer up a quick take of how good their gig in the real world measured up to expectations, the idea and core function of Rate Internships is by no means original, but it could be useful nonetheless. The premise is elementary. Like what you’re doing (or previously did) after graduation or in between coursework? Let the world know.

Everything on Rate Internships is broadcast in linear, blog-like fashion, so your review may not get lasting front page placement. But the service does offer a searchable database of entries, so if you’re still in class and curious to know what those out in the field feel/felt about their job, you can look up ratings for various positions within an industry. You are also able to narrow your view down to specific state a specific location to see if a prospective market is home to companies to which you might eventually want to consider yourself an asset. Ratings from ten states have so far been registered, and there is an international specification as well.
