With Spotify, Apple and Tidal dominating music streaming headlines these days, Rdio is hoping to lure away some customers with low-cost music streaming service of its own: Rdio Select.

Rdio Select, which was announced Thursday, is a new $3.99/month plan that falls between the company's Rdio Free and Rdio Unlimited ($9.99/month) plans.

Rdio Select gives users access to unlimited ad-free music radio stations when using a mobile device (smartphone or tablet). Select also lets you skip as many songs as you want; if you access the service through a web browser on a PC, however, you'll have to deal with ads.

The new music streaming service also lets you download up to 25 songs for offline playback. Newest downloads automatically replace the oldest ones, and you can replace 25 downloads up to once daily, the company wrote in a blog post.

Rdio Select also streams at a higher bit-rate: 320 kilobits per second (kbps). In comparison, Rdio Free streams at 192 kbps and Rdio Unlimited at 320 kbps.

Rdio Select is currently only for mobile and web, but the company says it will arrive on Chromecast, Roku and Sonos devices soon. And for a limited time, new subscribers will get the first 60 days for free.
