Oh, the horror!

The entire sports-loving population of the United States experienced a wide range of emotions on Sunday night when Portugal scored a last-minute goal in the World Cup match against the United States.

Chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" shifted to shouts of horror, dismay and the inevitable curse word (or two, or five).

Now we can watch it over and over, reliving the moment when Americans' faces fell.

To forget the heartbreaking final seconds, watch Americans reacting to the first U.S. goal at Grant Park in Chicago. Unfortunately, their excitement wouldn't last.

As with many sporting events, fans unleashed their excitement and frustrations on Twitter. The map below shows the explosion of geotagged tweets mentioning the World Cup posted during the match.

But before we end on a sour note, it's important to point out that the U.S. still has a chance to advance; just root for ties.
