Not your best joke, Rebel Wilson.

When the time came to present Best Hip-Hop Video at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, the actress and comedian took the stage dressed as a cop. In her subsequent bit, she joked about hating "the stripper police" before handing off the award to Nicki Minaj.

Now Wilson is getting flak from people who interpreted the joke as making light of police brutality.

Rebel Wilson's got her nerve presenting Best Hip-Hop Video while making a joke out of police/state violence. But I digress. #VMAS— Derrick Clifton (@DerrickClifton) August 31, 2015

Rebel Wilson making light of police brutality before announcing the nominees for best Hip Hop video is so white it hurts #VMAs— Glen Coco (@MrPooni) August 31, 2015

why make a joke about police brutality when presenting the hip hop award? @RebelWilson @MTV #ApologizeVMAs #VMAs— momo (@momodamermaid) August 31, 2015

I'm not here for trivializing police brutality @RebelWilson #VMAs— ELIEL CRUZ (@elielcruz) August 31, 2015

The bit reads as tone deaf in 2015, when police brutality against people of color has fueled protests across the country as well as the birth of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Not cute, Rebel.
