The new Apple iOS 8.3 update is giving users new ways to text with expanded, more diverse keyboards that feature broader spectrums of skin tones.

But some still feel left out in one area: hair color.

The latest updated keyboard features shades of blonde, brown and black hair on humanoid emoji, leaving Apple-loving gingers feeling underrepresented.

A petition on Change.org has been circulating online since late February, when we got our first look at the new emoji, requesting that the Unicode Consortium add a red-headed option. At the time of writing, the petition had more than 6,000 of the required 7,500 signatures.

An estimated 1 to 2% of the world's population has naturally red hair. But that small percentage is no reason the Ron Weasleys of the world can't hold onto hope.

Gaze sadly at your iPhones, redheads. You'll have to wait just a little longer.
