Reddit Co-Founder Wants to Buy Out Jay-Z as NBA Owner

Having long since sold his social media juggernaut to Conde Nast, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian now has his eyes on a different role: part-owner of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets.

To make that happen, however, he'll need to strike a deal with a fellow modern magnate: Jay-Z.

The Brooklyn rapper announced recently that he intends to become an agent for NBA players, meaning he'll have to sell his .067% stake in the Nets. Those are the shares Ohanian hopes to buy.

The Reddit co-founder and anti-CISPA activist actually first tweeted his interest last week. But he confirmed his intentions in a Tuesday interview with Bloomberg TV's Money Moves host Diedre Bolton, the Nets Daily blog reports:

"You're a big Nets fan," noted Bolton. "Jay-Z has to sell off his stake which is pretty small. Would you buy it?"

"Absolutely," answered Ohanian. "In fact, I have tried to make as many public and private overtures as I can to let HOVA know that I would absolutely be honored to buy those shares."

Wednesday morning, Ohanian returned to Twitter to continue lobbying:

I may not have a rap song to announce my @brooklynnets intentions, but I do have a thread on /r/NBA ow.ly/k9iz3— Alexis Ohanian (@alexisohanian) April 17, 2013

In that thread, Ohanian makes a pretty compelling case for what he could bring to the table if he owned even just a teeny-tiny part of the Nets.

"I realize it's a token amount," he writes. "But I actually live in Brooklyn and I'm pretty good with the Internet -- I reckon that could be helpful. Also -- AMAs from ALL THE PLAYERS."

Should HOVA sell to Ohanian? Give us your take in the comments.
