The Secrets of 'Prometheus' Explained by Reddit

WARNING: This post contains explicit spoilers for Prometheus. We recommend you do not read this article if you have not seen the film.

We have been looking forward to Ridley Scott's Prometheus for quite some time. The film's rich, viral promotional campaign included a futuristic TED Talk and an ad for the android David. Thus, we were adaquately prepared for the film itself when it opened on June 8 in the U.S.

At least, we thought we were prepared. It turns out, Prometheus is quite the complex film. The thriller left us with more than a few lingering questions. What were those Engineers up to? Why even lead mankind to this base just to destroy it? Why did the black goo affect everyone differently? How did we end up with a Xenomorph alien ancestor?

When we want explanations, we turn to the "Front Page of the Internet," Reddit. We figured it was a great place to get the answers to Prometheus we craved -- and Redditors did not disappoint.

Here are the answers to some of the major questions we had about Prometheus. Of course, there are still many more unanswered questions, but this thread and the Reddit community provided a good start.

What are your thoughts about Prometheus? What other questions did you have after seeing the film?
