I continue to marvel at the ability of Web 1.0-ish properties like classified websites to fetch amazing prices in today's Web 2.0/3.0 world, but today brings us news of yet another success story from the realm of 1.0. RegionalHelpWanted.com was purchased by onTargetjobs, a portfolio company of Warburg pincus. The financial terms weren't explicitly disclosed, but according to PE Hub, Classified Intelligence "pegs the figure at $100 million."

As a personal side-note, this is yet another of those self-butt-kicking moments for me in my life, as I've actually turned down a handful of executive and directorial positions at classified portal companies just like this (usually on the grounds that the company just wasn't sexy enough). These were companies with good backing and a decent business plan (or decent enough for a classified portal company).

Chances are, if you tune into the radio during drive time, you've heard their ads play in your area as I have in mine, ending with the familiar slogan: "long name, amazing results!" RegionalHelpWanted is also the company behind the telephone and online dating service Cupid.com, another recognizable brand name.
