Renkoo Launches Social Networking Profiles, With a Twist

The group event organizer Renkoo announced the launch of public profile pages on Monday, bringing the site in line with conventional social networks. But the way they've implemented the profile pages seems to break with convention: instead of spending hours adding info about yourself and loading up the latest bling and MySpace layouts, Renkoo's profiles are based around questions and answers. Every week, your friends can ask one question of you, supposedly gaining more insight into your personality: see Renkoo founder Adam Rifkin's page for more.

If that sounds familiar, it's because the idea is similar to Faqqly, a unique and well-executed social network based around questions and answers. Faqqly seems to be down prior to a relaunch next month, but I maintain that the site could be huge if they allowed users to post those questions to MySpace, hi5, Friendster et al.

For Renkoo, the end result is that the service is just a lot more fun to use. I'm still not convinced that this is a huge market or that anyone can rival Evite, but let's give them a fair shot.
