MakerBot has refined the phenomenon of 3D printing with the launch of the Replicator 2.
Replicator 2 is an upgrade of MakerBot's last product. But the company promises a faster and stronger 3D printer, with better products that are built on MakerBot's "PLA material." The material is made from corn and leads to smoother objects that are less prone to cracking.
MakerBot has stepped up the price from the original -- it now runs $2,199 -- but it may be worth it for true designers and developers. The newer model has simplified its system into three-point leveling as opposed to the old four-point system that caused more errors in assembling calculations.
Best of all, once you've paid all that money you won't have to bother trying to assemble the complicated machine. It is delivered completely ready to start printing.
And for those who can't quite wrap their mind around the 3D printing concept, MakerBot has launched a store in New York City that will give people hands-on demonstrations on how the products are printed.
