Report: YouTube Delays Subscription Music Service Launch into 2014

YouTube will not launch a subscription music service this year as originally planned, All Things Digital reports citing people familiar with the company's plans. Instead, the new service will debut in the first quarter of 2014.

Although YouTube has licensing deals in place, ATD's sources claim the company needs more time to work on the actual product.

One of the problems YouTube needs to solve is finding the best way to integrate user-generated content (such as mashups) with profesional recordings.

Google (who owns YouTube) has already launched one subscription music service this year -- the Google Play Music All Access. The service offers music streaming for $9.99 a month.
