Reuters Enlists Popular 3D Animators to Help Share News

News wire Reuters is teaming up with Next Media Animation, the masterminds behind the humorous animations that focus on current events such as Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and Instagram's Android developments.

NMA's News Direct service -- the more serious branch of the Taiwanese animation studio -- will create about 20 animated news stories each week for Reuters to distribute to its network of publishers starting July 16.

The 30- to 60-second videos will include 3D animations, narration and natural sound.

"Our partnership with Next Media Animation has allowed us to a create and shape a video solution that enables broadcast and online publishers to illustrate every angle of a story, adding depth to our reporting when video from the scene is not available" Reuters head of video Owen Wyatt said in a statement.
