Revver, the video site that shares revenue with content creators, has lost two of its three co-founders. Ian Clarke and Oliver Luckett are leaving the company along with some of the support staff. Steven Starr is staying on as CEO. Meanwhile, they've added three executives to the senior staff: a new COO, a new senior VP of advertising sales and a new VP of marketing.

It's not really clear what this means for Revver: they've always trailed behind YouTube, but they still have a strong product and their value has almost certainly increased following YouTube's acquisition. AdAge suggests that perhaps the VCs wanted to bring in a more professional management team as the company matures.

But I also feel that Revver made a few mistakes early on that have hampered their growth: in particular, they could have added comments to help build a community around the clips. What's more, they failed to build up a massive content repository like YouTube: look at the site today, and you'll see a few featured clips, but not much of an incentive to dig deeper. That said, I'm still bullish about Revver, since there's an abundance of content creators who want to be paid for their work.
