As expected, the RIAA's case against Jaimmie Thomas ended today. And the jury has found Thomas guilty of "willful" copyright infringement. With a price of over $9,000 per song found in her possession, Thomas' bill adds up to $222,000. Whether or not the RIAA will actually collect this amount is not yet known. The case, which was brought to court on Tuesday, heard two days of testimony, including Sony BMG head of litigation, Jennifer Pariser.

For the RIAA, this is obviously a way for it to spread some intimidation into the hearts of file-sharing users across the nation. This was the first of 20,000 to be brought to court. Will the rest be brought to court as well, or has the RIAA made its point loud and clear?
