Beats by Dre Drops New Ad and the Timing Could Not Be Better

Life imitating art imitating life imitating Richard Sherman.

The same day that the Seahawks corner made a stunning play to end the NFC Championship game and send his team to the Super Bowl, Beats by Dre released a commercial with the controversial Sherman centered around the media coverage he receives.

The commercial is all the more timely in light of Sherman's post-game tirade in an interview with Erin Andrews. This just moments after confronting San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree and taunting quarterback (and fellow Beats spokesperson) Colin Kaepernick with a choke sign, which became the talk of the internet.

For those who don't know him, Sherman is almost certainly the best cornerback in the game and he's not afraid to let people know it. Deadspin has a nice write up about him today.

The ad shows Sherman at the center of a mob of media reporters that bombard him with questions. Sherman, aside from being one of the NFL's newest superstars, is known for not shying away from media attention. True to form, Sherman took to his blog on SportsIllustrated.com to discuss his actions in a post titled "To Those Who Would Call Me a Thug or Worse …" In it, he wrote, "I show passion on the football field — but that’s only a small part of who I am. If you want to judge me, I can handle it."
