Richard Sherman's inspiring speech at his old high school is a lesson on dealing with haters

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman wants to change the perception of his hometown of Compton, "one kid at a time, one school at a time."

The NFL star's rise to fame has been swift; you may know him for his tendency to go on brash rants. But in April, he returned to his alma mater, Dominguez High School in Compton, California, to tell his story and remind students that nothing but hard work got him to where he is now.

"A lot of people say 'Oh, he was just a kid from Compton and now all of the sudden he's a millionaire,' but I kind of feel like everybody forgets about all the hard work, all the hard days at track practice, all the hard football practices, all the days sitting, studying in class."
