Classic cartoon character Richie Rich is coming to Netflix -- in live-action form.

AwesomenessTV's half-hour comedy series Richie Rich has been picked up by the streaming network. The children-geared comedy, starring Jake Brennan in the titular role, will be available in early 2015.

The show's premise on some level follows exactly what we've come to know about the character, portrayed first as a 1950s comic book, later as a Hanna-Barbera cartoon and then on film by Macaulay Culkin in 1994: a rich kid gets to do rich kid things. But on the new TV series, Richie is a self-made trillionaire who enjoys the spoils of success after inventing and selling a new green technology. The 21-episode series follows his adventures.

This is the first live-action version of the character to be seen since he was portrayed by David Gallagher in 1998's Richie Rich's Christmas Wish. Tim Pollock and Jeff Hodsden, who previously worked on Disney's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, will act as showrunners.
