Rick Barry's son shoots free-throws underhanded just like pops

Canyon Barry is not ashamed of his heritage.

Shooting free-throws underhanded is derided these days as "granny-style" on playgrounds across America. In the 1960s and 1970s, however, Rick Barry took his freebies underhanded throughout a Hall of Fame NBA career. Now his youngest son is bringing it back.

Canyon is a junior guard at the College of Charleston. That's a small school that doesn't get much publicity, but a national audience saw Canyon and company play when they upset LSU on Monday night.

Young Canyon drew plenty of attention online when he stepped to the foul line for the first time. Behold his underhand steez.

But Canyon isn't just some underhand-shooting dork. Barry's kid can ball, too. Check out this nifty behind-the-back-pass from the same game.

Canyon scored a game-high 19 points in Charleston's 70-58 upset over LSU.

Canyon should count his blessings. Things could certainly be worse as far as taking after pops goes -- the son of French soccer star Zinedine Zidane was recently red-carded for mimicking his father's famous World Cup gaffe.

Meanwhile, perhaps Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan should take up grannyBarry-style form. He missed 22 free throws the same night Canyon was leading Charleston's upset. That's right -- a professional NBA player missed 22 free throws in a single game. Here are all 22:
