What has David Brent been up to in the years since the end of The Office UK? Ricky Gervais is about to show us.
Gervais is set to star in Life on the Road, a film that will show his character's life after he left Wernham Hogg, the fictional paper company at the center of the show, which spawned a U.S. spin-off. In the film, Brent will be seen pursuing a music career and self-funding a tour and album.

It will be filmed in the same documentary style that both incarnations of The Office became known for.

The movie will start shooting next year.
The Office, which Gervais created with Stephen Merchant, ran for two seasons in the UK, plus a holiday special, between 2001 and 2003. That was not the end of David Brent: he was later seen in The Office on NBC in two separate appearances in Season 7.
Last year, Gervais also released a number of David Brent videos on his YouTube channel, in which he gave guitar lessons in character.
