Not a fan of Uber? Here's how other ride-sharing apps measure up

Uber has been the king of the taxi-alternative market for awhile now, but after a series of controversial reports about the company's ethics, some are deleting the app and looking elsewhere.

In what was probably Uber's worst week yet, news surfaced that top executive Emil Michael wanted to dig up dirt on journalists who were critical of the company. Uber has since apologized for Michael's comments, but didn't fire him.

Later, Uber posted a privacy policy, saying it would only access user data for "legitimate business purposes." Things got even stranger when Uber investor Ashton Kutcher tweeted support for the company, and criticized "shady" journalists.

While you might be among those abandoning Uber, there's no need to give up ride-sharing. There's a whole collection of apps worth considering, beyond the company's biggest rival Lyft.

Plus, many of the drivers who work for ride-sharing programs work for more than just one, so don't feel too bad about ditching Uber. There are also services that don't do surge pricing.
