Just when you thought the news cycle was done with Rachel Dolezal, Rihanna name-drops her in an interview.

In a lengthy cover story for Vanity Fair, the pop star mentioned Dolezal, the white NAACP leader who said she identified as a black woman. Rihanna seemed to defend her, saying that Dolezal gave people a new perspective.

“I think she was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit," she says. "Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up.”

So ... there's that.

Rihanna's cover photo was shot in Cuba by photographer Annie Liebovitz.
