RIM and T-Mobile Announce BlackBerry Curve 9315

RIM and T-Mobile USA have announced the BlackBerry Curve 9315, a QWERTY smartphone with 3G connectivity.

The Curve 9315 sports a 320x240 screen, a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash, 512MB of RAM, support for microSD memory cards (up to 32GB), FM radio and Wi-Fi, all of which place it firmly into the entry-level smartphone category.

T-Mobile and RIM refer to Curve 9315 as "T-Mobile's most affordable BlackBerry," as it costs only $49.99, but it also requires 20 equal monthly payments of $10 per month with a two-year T-Mobile Value voice and data plan, which brings the total cost of the device to the not-so-puny $250.

The device is also available for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate card a two-year T-Mobile Classic voice and data plan.

The Curve 9315 will become available for pre-sale Jan. 16, and it's expected to become available in retail stores Jan. 23.
