LONDON -- It's always a bit random when celebrities start having a go at each other on Twitter, and it's even more unexpected when the tweeters in question aren't people you'd normally associate with each other in any way.
Such was the case on Monday night, when American actor Rob Lowe and Guardian columnist Owen Jones had an unexpectedly catty online exchange.
It all started when Lowe made some tie-themed assertions about the Greek financial crises.
One clue that the leader of Greece gives no f$$cks about his country defaulting: not wearing a tie as he addresses his government.— Rob Lowe (@RobLowe) June 29, 2015
At which point Jones waded in with his thoughts on Lowe's career.
@RobLowe stick to the increasingly unwatchable films— Owen Jones (@OwenJones84) June 29, 2015
Lowe didn't like that.
I'll try to do better than the multiple Emmy's, Golden Globes and BAFTA's my last one won. Do your homework pal. https://t.co/Xc2jMblosS— Rob Lowe (@RobLowe) June 29, 2015
Perhaps unnerved by the favourite count on Lowe's last tweet, Jones decided to leave it there.
@RobLowe haha!— Owen Jones (@OwenJones84) June 29, 2015
The final touch of randomness came from this Matt Lucas tweet, which seem to sum up the situation nicely.
I put a pound on Rob Lowe and Owen Jones having a bust-up on Twitter over the Greece situation and just won twenty million pounds. Result.— Matt Lucas (@RealMattLucas) June 30, 2015
