Roku's New Projector Lets You Stream Movies on a Wall

Ready to make your home movie night a little more like going to the theater? Streaming media player company Roku announced on Thursday that it is teaming up with 3M to launch a projector that can recreate the cinema experience from your couch.

The streaming projector is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, yet can project large moving images across any flat surface. It can create up a screen up to 120 inches and comes with built-in audio and a headphone jack to add speakers to the device..

"We are trying to create a movie theater experience," a Roku spokesperson said at the New York event. "Our distribution partner is exclusively with Amazon.com, and you can pre-order it today."

The device will need movies to play it, of course, and each project comes with a Roku streaming stick. The device connects your TV to the web so you can watch various content via Wi-Fi, and access services such as Netflix and games.

Executives at the event also announced a new Roku app for the iPhone and Android platforms. With it, you'll be able to take movies, pictures or audio from your phone and sent them via Wi-FI to the projector.
