Mixed martial artist and UFC champion Ronda Rousey may have the ability to take an opponent out in seconds, but her extraordinary skills were no match for the historic snowstorm that hit New York on Saturday leading up to her debut on Saturday Night Live.

With the city expected to get up to 30 inches of snow, New York officials imposed a travel ban on all vehicles and roadways and buses and elevated train stations have been shut down.

In addition to the travel ban, all live shows on Broadway were canceled for the remainder of Saturday. So does that mean SNL is canceled, too? As of this writing, the answer is: The show will go on!

That's the word a source at NBC offered Mashable as of this writing, even as snow continued to pummel the city with accumulations of snow not seen in decades. Those intentions were backed up by an optimistic tweet posted by NBC on Saturday afternoon.

The weather outside is frightful... but @RondaRousey & @selenagomez are going to heat things up on #SNL tonight! pic.twitter.com/RNUXio9fQM— NBC (@nbc) January 23, 2016

A similar message was posted to Twitter by the show itself around the same time.

We're live tonight. Cold and covered in a foot of snow but we're live with a new @nbcsnl tonight. Watch it!— SNL Weekend Update (@SNLUpdate) January 23, 2016

And while New York's underground subway service is operating normally, it remains to be seen just how many fans will brave the major snowstorm to see Rousey and musical guest Selena Gomez.

Despite her devastating loss at the hands of Holly Holm in November, which saw the ex-champ avoiding cameras and interviews, in recent weeks Rousey has been back to her old self, promoting her upcoming films and once again reaching out to her fans via Instagram and Twitter.
