How's he getting psyched up for his first time back on the pitch? The Manchester United star took to Twitter early Tuesday to share a Spotify playlist of tunes he says will get his mind right before England's Group D finale against co-host country Ukraine.
Apparently, Rooney goes heavy on the singer-songwriter stuff. His pre-match playlist includes Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and Damien Rice. He also has the Bon Jovi tune "It's My Life" -- possibly a dig at critics in the media who have examined his every move with a metaphorical microscope since he was a teenage prodigy?
He calls the collection of songs the "Wazza Playlist," referring to his nickname among teammates, fans and the English press. Here's Rooney's pre-game playlist in its entirety:
Worth noting is the difference in taste between English footballer Rooney and some of his American football counterparts. Before Super Bowl XLVI last February, New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley and New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz each shared playlists of their own.
Whereas Rooney fashions himself as more of a rocker, Ridley and Cruz each favored hip-hop and club bangers. Both featured tracks by Rick Ross, Drake, Lil Wayne and Jay Z.
