LONDON -- Using the cupboard under your stairs as a kid's bedroom is not OK. You know, because it's a cupboard.

But for whatever reason, not everyone is clued in on the basic rules of parenting -- as demonstrated in crime writer Ian Rankin's Twitter exchange with J.K. Rowling over the weekend.

Rankin dropped Jo a tweet when he noticed that the front page of a magazine appeared to condone Harry Potter's sleeping arrangements at the Dursley household. For those of you that don't know -- though we doubt there are many -- Harry spent the majority of his childhood sleeping in an under-the-stairs cupboard.

Here's what Ian said.

To which Rowling responded...

I would like to make it clear that I don't endorse shutting children under the stairs. Thought I'd made that clear. https://t.co/8kenUdXkke— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) September 20, 2015

J.K has spoken and, once more, all is well.
