Quick Pitch: Use iPhone GPS to track all your runs/rides, auto-post route link to twitter, making RunKeeper your personal trainer!
Genius Idea: Even though there are a plethora of iPhone apps that try to help you manage your fitness regime, they all require manual input and we all know how tedious that can be. RunKeeper [iTunes link], however, employs the iPhone's GPS capabilities for automatic tracking of your outdoor workouts. Now that's genius.
RunKeeper takes the work out of monitoring your on-foot workouts - just launch the app and hit start to turn on automatic GPS tracking of your run, hike, bike ride, or walk. RunKeeper does recommend that you turn-off Wi-Fi to enhance the GPS strength - you probably shouldn't be online while you run anyway - and the app gives you an instance reference point to verify the strength.
The free app (there's an ad-free pro version too) conveniently tracks duration, distance, pace, speed, altitude, and your path as you go about your typical walk, run, or ride. Should you so desire, you can even auto-tweet your location data and progress to your Twitter followers, which holds you accountable and potentially motivates them to get off the couch too.
We think RunKeeper's genius use of GPS makes it just the app we need to get accurate and detailed information on all of our outdoor activities.
