Just one month after sports apparel company Adidas acquired the popular fitnesss app Runtastic, the new pairing has already birthed a new product: a smartwatch.

The Moment looks like a normal watch at first glance, but the wearable tracks your steps taken, calculates calories burned and monitors your sleep patterns.

In addition to connecting via Bluetooth with Runtastic's app (on either iOS, Windows Phone or Android), the device also provides vibration and LED alerts. And for those who like to put their smart devices through tough conditions, the lithium battery-powered (no daily recharging necessary) Moment is also waterproof.

The Moment comes in four styles: the Basic and Fun ($129), designed for sports and casual use, and the Classic and Elite ($179), targeting more fashion-conscious users.

This isn't Runtastic's first foray into the world of wearables. Last year, the company took the wraps off the Orbit fitness tracker and, in 2012, the company released its GPS Watch.

The difference here is that Runtastic's latest wearable aims to capture the growing market for fashion-friendly wearables that can do double duty as a fitness tracker and accessory.

Although well designed, the Basic and Fun versions of the device are fairly unremarkable. But the Classic and Elite models, both using stainless steel and leather/textile straps, appear to offer a true alternative for fitness enthusiasts who don’t want to sacrifice style at the expense of being a health nut.

Oh yeah, and it tells you the time, too.

According to Runtastic's website, the Moment will begin shipping to customers later this month.
