Those very same fans have turned to Facebook to help the film star's fledgling new movie, Cherrybomb, secure distribution in Britain. On it's own merit, the film wasn't making any cinematic waves, but Grint fans raced to the rescue, creating a petition and spreading the word via Facebook.
According to the Telegraph, the film, which is much more adult than typical Potter fare, "premiered at the Berlin Film Festival but did not get picked up by a distributor."
Cherrybomb's cause was then championed by thousands of Cherrybomb Distribution Campaign petition signers in six different countries and over 3,000 Facebook users, who even went so far as to call the movie's sales agent and ask about the film's release date.
Producers were sold, so while the specifics have yet to be disclosed, they have publicly confirmed cinematic distribution for Britain, and are in negotiations for an American distributor.
Grint's been quoted as saying:
“I’m delighted by the huge support the film has already received on the official Facebook page and other sites on the web and am so grateful to my fans in particular, who have travelled the world to support the film at festivals and preview screenings.”
